He is one of the few Pakistani mountaineers who had summited world’s tallest five mountains with height above 8,000 meters. These mountains are;

- Gasherbrum I (8,068 meters)
- Broad Peak (8,050 meters) and
- Gasherbrum II (8,035 meters)
He is one of the few Pakistani mountaineers, who is considered an inspiring figure for other mount climbers.
Recognition and Awards
For his daring achievements in the mountaineering sports, Nazir Sabir was awarded Pride of Performance Award in 1982. He was also honored with The Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Star of Excellence) in 2001, for his outstanding performance in the same sports.

Nazir Sabir is the only Pakistani to have an honorary membership of the Alpine Club UK. It was awarded to him in 1992. He also got membership of the two more foreign mountaineer clubs which are;
- Polish Mountaineering Federation in 2002 and
- American Alpine Club in 2008
Social and Political Career
In addition to his daring expeditions, Nazir Sabir has served his community and country through political leadership and environmental efforts.
He was elected in 1994, as a representative to the Gilgit Baltistan Legislative Assembly by the people of Hunza. The people of Hunza, as a reward for his services to the people of the valley, fully supported him during the campaign and succeeded him against the traditional Mir of Hunza family in the elections.
Currently Nazir Sabir is working as an environmentalist. He is working for the preservation of wildlife in the native valley. He has also made great efforts in the conservation of one of the oldest forests in Pakistan, The Ziarat Juniper Forest.
